How to test
Read all the instructions before you start. Everything you need is in the box.
Collect
Collect urine in the urine collection cup.
Open
Open the foil pouch, take out the test card and use it right away.
Dip
Remove the cap and hold the card with the tips pointing down. Then check how much urine is in the cup:
- At or above the line on the card: dip the card up to the line for 1–3 seconds, then take it out.
- Below the line: hold the card in the cup, with the sample opening in the urine, for at least 10 seconds.
Put the cap back on and lay the card flat, face up.
Read
Wait 5 minutes, then read your result. Results stay stable for up to 60 minutes. Don't read after 60 minutes.
Reading your result
Look at the result window next to the letters C (control line) and T (test line).
This is a screening result only. If your result is preliminary positive, send the urine sample to a certified laboratory for confirmation (GC/MS or HPLC), and talk to a healthcare professional, since some medicines or foods can affect results.
Questions and answers
What is the cutoff level?
It's the lowest amount of THC metabolite in urine that gives a positive result. For this test it's 50 ng/mL. At or above this level the result is preliminary positive; below it, negative.
How long can THC be detected in urine?
It varies from person to person, depending on metabolism, body fat, hydration, and how often and how much THC is used. As a rough estimate: single or occasional use, 1–3 days; moderate use (several times a week), 5–7 days; heavy daily use, 10–15 days; chronic heavy use (several times a day), 30 days or more.
Does a preliminary positive mean drugs were used?
Not for sure. It means the sample may contain THC at or above 50 ng/mL. Only a laboratory test can confirm it.
If the test is negative, is the person free of THC?
Not necessarily. A negative result can happen when THC is present, for example if you test too soon or too late after use, if the sample was diluted or tampered with, or because of user error or a faulty test. If you're still concerned, test again at a different time or talk to a professional.
What can affect the result?
Some foods, supplements, drinks, diet pills, and prescription or over-the-counter medicines can affect results. So can not following the instructions exactly, or storing the test or the urine sample incorrectly.
What if a lab confirms a positive result?
